HISTORY

A Brief Historical Background

Paul and Adela Bajko
Polish Christian Ministries was established by Paul Bajko in 1954 as he began his work teaching at Eastern Christian Institute in East Orange , NJ . Paul was born in Poland where his father was the minister of one of the local congregations. During World War II Paul was deported to Germany where he worked in a labor camp until he was liberated by American troops. In 1958 when the college moved to Bel Air, MD and then became Eastern Christian College Brother Bajko was a vital part of the college work and continued with the mission work in Poland . His primary effort was to assist the people in Poland .

Over the years Paul & Dela Bajko sent tons of clothing, medical supplies, and food to the Polish people to meet the needs. Financial assistance was provided to help the churches and support was raised to underwrite preachers' salaries and provide buildings for the various congregations. Many books were translated and published in the Polish language to provide much needed literature. For many years a radio ministry was provided in order to get the Gospel message to Poland and surrounding countries. Paul has held countless Faith Promise Rallies here in the states and spoken to churches all over the country to raise the awareness of the needs of Poland . He served the mission for 40 years as Director and continues to serve, specializing in the area of Polish communications and publications.

C. Wayne Murphy

C. Wayne Murphy began working with the mission in 1993 and became Executive Director in 1994. The mission work continues to expand with an emphasis on church planting. The mission operates under the oversight of a Board of Directors consisting of 12-14 individuals representing a number of supporting churches.
